Why is this card good?
Ancient Tomb is one of the best lands in Commander, period — it's a colorless Sol Land that effectively ramps you a full mana ahead on turn one. In a 40-life format, the 2 damage is trivial, making it pure upside in nearly every deck that can use the colorless mana.
It shines brightest in:
- Big-mana / ramp decks wanting explosive starts (Eldrazi, artifacts, stompy).
- Stax and control that need early mana to land lock pieces or counters ahead of the table.
- cEDH and high-power tables, where speed wins games and it's a near-auto-include.
Why it's a Game Changer: it accelerates broken openings and warps low-bracket games where opponents lack the speed to keep up.
When NOT to play it: heavily multicolor decks with greedy mana bases that genuinely can't afford a colorless source, or casual/lower-bracket pods aiming for fairness. The damage also adds up if your deck self-pressures with fetches, painlands, and Phyrexian costs.
