Conjurer's Closet

{5}

Artifact

LegalRemovalRank #498

At the beginning of your end step, you may exile target creature you control, then return that card to the battlefield under your control.

Why is this card good?

Conjurer's Closet is a repeatable, colorless blink engine — exactly what value-creature decks crave. Every end step you reuse an ETB trigger with zero additional mana, which adds up fast over a multiplayer game. The card shines in decks built around enters-the-battlefield value: think Brago, Roon, Yarok, Panharmonicon-style strategies, or any deck stuffed with creatures like Mulldrifter, Solemn Simulacrum, Acidic Slime, and Woodland Bellower. It also doubles as protection — blink a creature in response to targeted removal, or to reset auras/counters. Bonus: it untaps creatures and removes summoning sickness from a freshly-cast threat. Where it falls short: it's slow and overpriced at five mana with no immediate impact, and it does nothing in a deck without meaningful ETB effects. Don't run it as generic goodstuff — if your creatures are vanilla beaters or you're a spellslinger/voltron deck, skip it. It's also non-tutorable color-wise but easily disrupted as an artifact. Play it only when your deck genuinely abuses entering-the-battlefield triggers.

    Once the exiled creature returns, it's considered a new object with no relation to the object that it was. Auras attached to the exiled creature will be put into their owners' graveyards. Equipment attached to the exiled creature will become unattached and remain on the battlefield. Any counters on the exiled creature will cease to exist.

    If a token is exiled this way, it will cease to exist and won't return to the battlefield.

    If you gain control of a creature “until end of turn,” you control it during that turn's end step.

    When an effect returns the exiled card “under your control,” you control it indefinitely after that. In a multiplayer game, if a player leaves the game, all cards that player owns leave as well. If you leave the game, any creatures you control from Conjurer's Closet effect are exiled.
