Crucible of Worlds

{3}

Artifact

LegalRank #588

You may play lands from your graveyard.

Why is this card good?

Crucible of Worlds is one of those quiet powerhouses that does far more than its text suggests, because it transforms every fetchland, sacrifice land, and bounced land into a recurring resource. The big payoff is synergy. Pair it with Strip Mine, Wasteland, or Ghost Quarter and you get a recurring land-destruction engine that locks opponents out of key lands — a staple in stax and prison decks. With fetchlands, it smooths your draws and feeds the graveyard. It also shines with land-sacrifice value engines like Zuran Orb, Ramunap Excavator effects, and landfall payoffs (Lord Windgrace, Omnath, Tatyova). Best homes: lands-matter and landfall decks, stax/control builds, and any deck running multiple sacrificeable utility lands. When not to play it: in a vanilla midrange or aggressive deck with few fetches and no sac-lands, it does almost nothing — it just sits there. Crucible needs enablers to justify the slot. No fetches, no Strip Mine, no landfall? Cut it.

    Crucible of Worlds doesn't change the times when you can play those land cards. You can still play only one land per turn, and only during your main phase when you have priority and the stack is empty.

  • 2018-07-13

    Crucible of Worlds doesn't allow you to activate abilities (such as cycling) of land cards in your graveyard.
