Why is this card good?

Deserted Beach is a "slow land" — one of the better dual land cycles for budget-conscious or non-cEDH Azorius decks. The key sell is that it untaps once you have two other lands, which in practice means it enters untapped from turn 3 onward. That's a meaningful upgrade over taplands that always come in tapped, since by mid-game it's effectively a real dual. It's a fine inclusion in basically any UW deck that isn't running a tight, fast manabase: control, blink, artifacts, Voltron, or token strategies led by commanders like Brago, Raffine (in its color slice), or Light-Paws. It also dodges the downside of Pathways and shocklands by costing no life and producing both colors permanently. Don't run it if your deck is fast/competitive and wants every land untapped turn 1–2, or if you have access to true duals, fetch/shock, or Hallowed Fountain on a higher budget. It's a budget-to-mid bracket card — replace it once you can afford better fixing.
