Why is this card good?
Fire Diamond is a serviceable but unspectacular two-mana rock that ramps you toward red. The catch — entering tapped — is the reason it sits in the second tier behind Signets, Talismans, and even the better mono-color options like Mind Stone.
Where it shines is mono-red decks that simply need bodies of mana rocks. Mono-red lacks ramp and card draw compared to other colors, so it often runs every two-mana rock just to keep pace, and Fire Diamond fills a slot. Commanders like Krenko, Torbran, or any aggressive mono-red list happily accept the help.
Don't play it in two-or-more-color decks, where Signets and Talismans dominate (they fix colors, untapped, for the same cost). Also skip it in fast/competitive builds — the tapped clause is a real tempo loss when every turn matters.
Bottom line: a filler rock for mono-red ramp-starved decks. If you have access to better rocks, take them; if you're scraping for two-drops, it's fine.
