Why is this card good?
Ghalta is the poster child for green stompy "go wide then go tall." That 12-mana cost is a mirage — in a deck full of fat creatures, you'll routinely drop her for as early as turn three or four, making her one of the cheapest 12/12s in the format. With trample, she immediately threatens lethal commander damage chunks.
She shines as a beater in mono-green or Gruul aggro, dinosaur tribal (alongside the other Ghalta, and ramp like Otepec Huntmaster), and any deck packing high-power creatures like Ancient Brontodon or hexproof bruisers. Pair her with a free attack/double strike enabler (Aggravated Assault, Berserkers' Onslaught) and she ends games fast.
The catch: she's empty value. No evasion beyond trample, no protection, no card advantage — she dies to any removal and your investment evaporates. Don't run her in spell-heavy, low-creature-count, or control builds where you can't keep enough power on board to discount her. She wants a wide, beefy battlefield to be worth the slot.
