Greater Good

{2}{G}{G}

Enchantment

LegalCard DrawRank #646

Sacrifice a creature: Draw cards equal to the sacrificed creature's power, then discard three cards.

Why is this card good?

Greater Good turns your creatures into raw card advantage, and it scales absurdly well with the fatties green naturally produces. Sac a 7-power beater, draw 7, discard 3 — net +4 cards. The discard cost is real, but it doubles as graveyard enabler. This is a staple in two homes: - Reanimator/graveyard decks — discarding three fuels recursion. Pitch your bombs, then Reanimate them back. - Aristocrats and combo — it's a free sac outlet, which matters with Karador, Meren, or Ghave. Pair with a creature that has insane power or one that returns from the yard. It also enables loops: sacrifice an indestructible/regenerating creature repeatedly, or combo with token doublers and persist/undying creatures for engine value. When not to play it: low-power decks, voltron, or anything without a graveyard plan or sacrifice payoffs — you'll just be churning your library and dumping bombs with no way back. It wants either big creatures or a stocked yard to be worth a card.
