Why is this card good?
Liquimetal Torque is a sneaky-good two-mana rock that does double duty: it ramps and enables artifact synergies/removal.
The mana side alone makes it playable in any colorless-hungry deck, but the second ability is where it shines. Turning any nonland permanent into an artifact unlocks a ton of interaction:
- Artifact removal as removal: pair with Vandalblast, Bane of Progress, Shattering Spree, or Gate to the Afterlife-style effects to blow up anything — even commanders and enchantments your colors normally can't touch.
- Affinity/artifact-matters decks: it feeds Urza, Emry, Sai, Breya, and Karn builds, plus it counts itself for artifact thresholds.
- Combo enabler: turn a land into an artifact to break parity, or set up tricks with artifact-tutoring/recursion.
Best in mono-red or mono-white decks that lean on cheap artifact destruction as catch-all removal, and in any artifact-tribal shell.
Skip it if you're not running artifact payoffs or red blink-up removal — then it's just a worse Mind Stone with no card draw.
