Lotus Cobra

Creature — Snake

LegalRampRank #319

Landfall — Whenever a land you control enters, add one mana of any color.

2/1

KeywordsLandfall

Why is this card good?

Lotus Cobra is one of the best two-drop ramp creatures in green, and it's deceptively explosive. Every land that enters under your control — not just your land for turn — generates a mana of any color. That "any color" clause matters: it fixes and ramps simultaneously, making it excellent in greedy multicolor decks. The real payoff comes with extra land drops. Pair it with Exploration, Burgeoning, Azusa, Oracle of Mul Daya, or fetchlands and it snowballs fast — turn-three commanders and double-spell turns become routine. It's a staple in lands-matters and landfall decks (Tatyova, Aesi, Omnath, Lord Windgrace), and a great early-game accelerant anywhere green ramps. Downsides: it's a fragile 2/1 that dies to everything and gives no immediate board value if removed. The mana is also a "may"-style burst — you need to spend it that turn or lose it. Skip it in decks that don't play extra lands, can't quickly convert the mana, or in heavy creature-wipe metas where it won't survive.

Whenever a land you control enters, each landfall ability of the permanents you control will trigger. You can put them   on the stack in any order. The last ability you put on the stack will be the first one to resolve (As a result, you can have those abilities resolve in the order of your choosing.).

Lotus Cobra's ability uses the stack and players may respond to it. It isn't a mana ability because the event that causes it to trigger isn't a mana ability.

Lotus Cobra's ability isn't a mana ability. Opponents may respond to it before you have that mana.
