Why is this card good?
Maskwood Nexus is the colorless engine that turns any deck into a tribal deck. By making everything every creature type, it supercharges "lord" effects and type-matters payoffs without you needing on-theme creatures.
Where it shines:
- Tribal decks with anthems like Coat of Arms, Door of Destinies, or Vanquisher's Banner — now everything counts.
- Combo enablers: it's a key piece in the Conspicuous Snoop loop, and it makes things like Kindred Discovery or Patriarch's Bidding hit your whole board.
- Changeling synergies and commanders that care about specific types (Edgar Markov, Najeela) — Nexus lets off-tribe cards join the party.
The token generator is a nice mana sink and gives you bodies that already share every type, fueling go-wide or sacrifice strategies.
When to skip it: if your deck isn't leaning on tribal lords, type-matters payoffs, or a specific combo, it's just an overpriced token-maker. It does nothing on an empty board and offers no protection — pure value, no defense.
