Mosswort Bridge

Land

LegalRank #192

Hideaway 4 (When this land enters, look at the top four cards of your library, exile one face down, then put the rest on the bottom in a random order.)

This land enters tapped.

{T}: Add {G}.

{G}, {T}: You may play the exiled card without paying its mana cost if creatures you control have total power 10 or greater.

Why is this card good?

Mosswort Bridge is a near-free inclusion in any green deck that goes wide or tall. The downside is minimal—it enters tapped and otherwise functions as a basic Forest—while the upside is a free card, potentially a bomb. The Hideaway dig smooths your draws (you choose the best of four), and the power-10 threshold is trivial in the decks that want it: stompy/ramp builds with big creatures, +1/+1 counter decks, elf/token swarms, and most green Voltron lists. Hitting 10 total power by midgame is the norm, so you're effectively casting your exiled card for {G}, ignoring its mana cost—great for an Eldrazi, a Craterhoof, or a haymaker spell. Note it exiles when it enters, so you don't get to "save" your best draw later; you commit blind-ish to the top four. Skip it in low-creature decks, control shells, or builds that struggle to reach 10 power—there it's just a tapland with a dead ability.

"Hideaway N" means "When this permanent enters the battlefield, look at the top N cards of your library. Exile one of them face down and put the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order. The exiled card gains 'The player who controls the permanent that exiled this card may look at this card in the exile zone.'"

  • 2022-04-29

Any player who has controlled a permanent with a hideaway ability since a card was exiled with it may look at that card.

  • 2022-04-29

Previously, permanents with hideaway entered the battlefield tapped. This ability has been removed from the definition of hideaway. Older cards have received errata to have an additional paragraph that reads "[This permanent] enters the battlefield tapped," and they now have hideaway 4.

  • 2022-04-29

Hideaway now causes you to put the rest of the cards on the bottom of your library in a random order instead of any order.
