Why is this card good?

Oran-Rief is a free counters payoff stapled to a land, which is exactly why it's worth including in the right green deck — it costs you almost nothing but a tapped land slot. The activated ability buffs every green creature that entered this turn, so it shines in go-wide green strategies: token swarms, elfball/Marwen, and any deck that dumps multiple creatures per turn (Selvala, Ezuri, Cathars' Crusade-style counter decks). It also quietly enables +1/+1 counter synergies — proliferate, Hardened Scales, Ezuri's experience triggers — without taking a real card slot. Casting one big creature per turn and tapping this still nets value, just less. Caveats: it enters tapped, the counters only hit green creatures (multicolor counts, but colorless/artifact creatures don't), and you need to commit a turn's worth of creatures plus the tap. In creature-light spellslinger, lands-matter, or heavily off-color decks it does nothing but tap for green. Bottom line: an easy include in dedicated green creature decks, a non-starter elsewhere.
