Why is this card good?
Plateau is a dual land from the original "Dual Lands" cycle, and it's premium fixing for any Boros (R/W) deck. The key strength: it has the Mountain Plains basic land types while entering untapped with no life loss, no conditions, no drawbacks.
Those basic types matter more than the untapped speed:
- Fetchable by Arid Mesa, Windswept Heath, etc., letting you thin and fix simultaneously.
- Searchable by ramp like Knight of the White Orchid and tutored by Farseek (with Mountain) and Land Tax.
- Synergizes with Blood Moon / Magus of the Moon effects in your own stax shells.
Any R/W commander wants this — aggressive Boros tokens, equipment voltron, or stax decks that lean on dual-type fetch packages. It's strictly better than a basic-less tapland.
When to skip it: budget builds (it's expensive on the secondary market), and decks running Blood Moon-style effects you don't control benefit from it surviving — but otherwise there's almost no reason not to run it if you can afford it.
