Why is this card good?
Rise of the Dark Realms is the ultimate mass reanimation spell — a one-card win condition in the right shell. At nine mana it's slow, but in Commander the graveyards are usually stuffed by the time you cast it, so you're stealing not just your own dead, but everyone's bombs, ramp, and chaff alike. Even off a fresh board wipe it can swing a game completely.
Where it shines: big-mana black decks, Mono-black ramp (Cabal Coffers, Nykthos), and reanimator commanders like Sheoldred, Whisperer of the Damned or Gisa, Glorious Resurrector. It's a glorious finisher in grindy 1v1 and multiplayer pods where graveyards pile up.
When to skip it: fast aristocrats or low-curve decks that win before turn 9, and graveyard-hate-heavy metas where someone exiles the yards and leaves you with a dead nine-drop. It's also weak as an early target — you want it as a top-end haymaker, not your only reanimation. Pair it with sac outlets or extra-mana payoffs for maximum value.
