Why is this card good?

Rishkar's Expertise is one of green's premier payoff cards — a potential mountain of card advantage stapled to a free spell. Draw equal to your biggest creature's power, then drop a 5-drop or below for free. In a deck with a fat green beater, this routinely refills your hand by 6-10 cards in a single sorcery. It shines in big-creature green strdecks: ramp, +1/+1 counters (Ghalta, Vorinclex, Hamza), or anything that naturally fields a large body. The free cast is gravy — chain another ramp piece, removal, or even a second draw spell. Stompy and Simic value decks love it. When NOT to play it: go-wide token decks where your creatures are small (you'll draw 1-2), or low-curve aggressive builds. The free-cast clause is wasted if your hand is empty or full of 6+ drops. Also risky — if your big creature gets removed in response, you draw nothing. Best when you already have an established, hard-to-kill threat on board.

While you're casting your free spell, the Expertise spell is still on the stack. It will be put into its owner's graveyard after the free spell is cast. The free spell can't target the Expertise card in your graveyard. It can target the Expertise spell on the stack, but the Expertise spell will become an illegal target before the free spell resolves.

Any triggered abilities that trigger while performing the Expertise spell's first effect won't be put onto the stack until after you're done casting your free spell. They're put onto the stack at the same time as any abilities that triggered while casting that spell regardless of the order in which those abilities triggered.
