Why is this card good?
Sheltered Thicket is a solid, unflashy fixing land for Gruul (or any deck running both red and green). Its big selling point is the dual typing: it's a Mountain and a Forest, so it fetches with Wood Elves, Farseek (it can grab a Forest), and other land tutors that look for basic land types. That flexibility makes it punch above its rank.
The cycling is the real value. Lands that enter tapped are a real cost in Commander, but being able to dump it for a card late-game when you're flooded fixes the classic "drew a tapland turn 12" problem. It smooths your draws meaningfully over a long game.
Want it in: midrange/ramp Gruul decks, any GR list leaning on fetch effects or wanting consistency over speed.
Skip it in: fast/aggressive or cEDH-adjacent builds where entering tapped costs you tempo, and mono-color or two-color decks that don't actually need the red/green fixing.
