Why is this card good?
Tainted Isle is one of the best budget dual lands for Dimir (UB) decks, and it earns its slot in most two-color black-blue builds.
The key is the conditional clause: you need a Swamp to tap for colored mana. This makes it a quasi-perfect dual in decks that run a healthy black base — meaning plenty of actual Swamps, not just lands that produce black. It enters untapped and fixes both your colors immediately, which is a real advantage over taplands and many budget alternatives.
Who wants it: Any UB deck — control, mill, reanimator, theft (Gonti), or aristocrats splashing blue. The more basic Swamps you run, the more reliable it gets.
When NOT to play it: Three+ color decks where your Swamp count is thin or you lean on fetches/duals over basics. It's also dead-ish on turn one if you haven't landed a Swamp yet, and it can't fix anything by itself early. In premium-budget manabases, true duals and Surveil lands often outclass it.
