Why is this card good?

Why it's great: A 3-mana body that turns every land drop into ramp or value is absurdly efficient. With normal land drops plus fetch effects, you're churning out Treasures to ramp, fix colors, and fuel big turns — all while leaving artifacts behind to sacrifice for other engines. Who wants it: - Landfall decks (Lord Windgrace, Aesi, Tatyova) — obvious synergy, multiple triggers per turn. - Artifact/sacrifice decks — the Treasures and Food feed aristocrats, Krark-Clan Ironworks-style engines, or anything that wants tokens to crack. - Big-mana green ramp — Treasures accelerate your bombs and provide off-color splashes. - Anything running fetchlands or "extra land drop" effects (Exploration, Azusa) doubles the output. When to skip it: If your deck isn't landfall-heavy and lacks payoffs for the tokens, it's just mediocre ramp — a one-Treasure-per-turn rock on a fragile 3/3. It also dies to any sweeper, so don't lean on it in spellslinger or non-green-adjacent shells where the bodies and ramp don't matter.

Food is an artifact type. Even though it appears on some creatures, it's never a creature type.

  • 2024-11-08

You can't sacrifice a Food to pay multiple costs. For example, you can't sacrifice a Food token to activate its own ability and also to activate Maraleaf Rider's ability.
