Why is this card good?
Wood Elves is one of green's quietest workhorses. For three mana you get a 1/1 body plus a Forest fetched directly onto the battlefield untapped — that's effectively a ramp piece that also leaves a creature behind, and the land entering untapped means you net mana the turn you cast it (unlike Rampant Growth, which whiffs on tempo).
The key word is "Forest card," which includes any land with the Forest type — Temple Garden, Stomping Ground, Breeding Pool, Bayou, etc. That makes it surprisingly good at fixing in multicolor green decks, not just mono-green.
Where it shines:
- Any green ramp shell wanting an early, repeatable land drop.
- Blink/recursion decks (Roon, Aesi, Yarok — Yarok doubles the trigger) that abuse the ETB.
- Elf tribal and creature-count synergies (convoke, devotion).
Skip it if your manabase lacks dual-typed lands — in a deck full of nonbasics with no Forest type, it can only grab a basic, making cheaper ramp like Three Visits or Farseek strictly better.
