BuildCard details

The Commander

Prowess (Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, this creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.)

{R/W}: Aisha of Sparks and Smoke gains first strike until end of turn.

Whenever Aisha deals combat damage, you may cast a sorcery spell from your hand with mana value less than or equal to that damage without paying its mana cost.

Guide

Gameplan

Suit up Aisha with cheap pump and protection, swing in, and use her combat damage trigger to cast free sorceries — extra combat steps, burn, or board wipes — snowballing each turn. Prowess and noncreature spells make her hit hard early, and first strike ensures the trigger resolves before blockers can trade. You win by repeatedly connecting and chaining value sorceries into lethal swings or direct damage.

Strengths

  • Free sorcery casts every combat snowball card and tempo advantage hard
  • Prowess plus a low curve of cantrips and pumps makes her a fast, cheap threat
  • First strike activation protects the damage trigger from blockers and combat tricks
  • RW has elite cheap protection (Swords/Path-style spells, hexproof grants) to keep her swinging
  • Built-in card advantage engine in a Voltron shell, which is unusual and resilient

Weaknesses

  • Classic Voltron fragility — heavy reliance on the commander invites removal and chump blocks
  • Damage-based trigger means you only get cheap sorceries unless you boost her power high
  • RW lacks deep card draw and ramp compared to other colors
  • Wraths and 'must attack/can't attack' effects neuter the whole engine
  • Sorcery-only restriction limits what you can free-cast, so deck must lean into sorceries

Key Cards

  • Sublime Epiphany — Not RW — skip; instead lean on cheap sorceries to chain.
  • Comet Storm — An X burn sorcery you can cast for free off her trigger to finish a table.
  • Reckless Charge — Cheap haste-and-pump that gets Aisha online turn three and triggers prowess.
  • Sword of Feast and Famine — Pump, protection, evasion, and untaps your lands to keep casting noncreature spells.
  • Embercleave — Cheapened by prowess attackers and turns a connect into a massive damage trigger.
  • Faithless Looting — A cheap sorcery you can free-cast to dig and trigger prowess in one card.
  • Seize the Day — Grants an extra combat step, letting Aisha trigger her free-cast multiple times per turn.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the curve to maximize free-cast value: run only impactful sorceries you'd happily cast off the trigger (burn, tutors, extra combats) and load up on cheap protection like Apostle's Blessing, Mizzium Mortars, and Teferi's Protection. Add fast equipment (Lightning Greaves, Swords) and ramp/cost reducers to deploy Aisha and recast her after removal. Push toward extra-combat enablers (Combat Celebrant, Aggravated Assault) and X-spell finishers to convert a single connect into a game-ending turn.

Archetypes

  • Voltron — She's a cheap, evasive body that rewards stacking equipment, auras, and protection to connect.
  • Spellslinger — Prowess and her trigger both reward a deck packed with cheap noncreature spells and sorceries.
  • Aggro/Burn — Low curve, prowess, and free burn sorceries close games fast through damage.
  • Combat Steps/Extra Attacks — Repeating her damage trigger via extra combats multiplies free spells and pressure.
