BuildCard details

The Commander

Eminence — At the beginning of combat on your turn, if Arahbo is in the command zone or on the battlefield, another target Cat you control gets +3/+3 until end of turn.

Whenever another Cat you control attacks, you may pay {1}{G}{W}. If you do, it gains trample and gets +X/+X until end of turn, where X is its power.

Guide

Gameplan

Arahbo is a Selesnya Cat tribal/Voltron deck that buffs a single attacker into a one-shot threat via Eminence and the doubling combat trigger. Build a wide Cat board, suit up one creature with equipment/auras, and use Arahbo's pumps plus double strike to deal lethal commander damage. You operate from the command zone, so the strategy works even if Arahbo never hits the battlefield.

Strengths

  • Eminence works from the command zone, giving free +3/+3 every combat regardless of removal
  • Power-doubling combat trigger creates explosive one-shot kills, especially with double strike
  • Strong, deep Cat tribal package with good lords and anthems
  • Green-white access to ramp, protection, and consistent threats

Weaknesses

  • Heavily reliant on a single attacker—targeted removal or blockers can blow you out
  • Vulnerable to board wipes that erase the wide Cat support
  • No card advantage engine baked into the commander
  • Telegraphed combat damage strategy that savvy opponents play around with fogs and instant-speed removal

Key Cards

  • Fireshrieker — Granting double strike makes Arahbo's power-doubling trigger deal absurd, often lethal commander damage.
  • Skullclamp — Cats with low toughness or tokens turn into a relentless card-draw engine to refuel.
  • Regal Caracal — A premium Cat lord that anthems your team and brings two lifelink tokens for a wide board.
  • Felidar Sovereign — A massive lifegain payoff that doubles as an alternate win condition with its 40-life check.
  • Swiftfoot Boots — Protects your buffed attacker from removal and grants haste to close games faster.
  • Pride Sovereign — Scales with your Cat count and makes more Cats, snowballing your board presence.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Three Visits, Nature's Lore) to deploy Arahbo's payoffs earlier, and lean into double strike enablers (Fireshrieker, Grappling Hook) for guaranteed one-shots. Include protection like Heroic Intervention and Lightning Greaves to insure your single attacker, and prioritize evasion plus haste to reduce the deck's reliance on slow combat steps. Trim weaker vanilla Cats for value creatures and an Eladamri's Call/Worldly Tutor package to find your key buff target.

Win Conditions

  • ▸One-shot a player with a buffed double-striking Cat dealing 21+ commander damage
  • ▸Go wide with Cat tribal lords and anthems to overrun the table
  • ▸Win via Felidar Sovereign's 40-life upkeep trigger
  • ▸Trample over blockers using the +X/+X power-doubling combat trigger

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Eminence plus the doubling trigger and equipment turn one Cat into a one-hit commander-damage threat.
  • Tribal Aggro — Cat lords and anthems let you go wide and apply consistent pressure across multiple bodies.
  • Lifegain — Lifelink Cats like Regal Caracal and Ajani's tokens enable Felidar Sovereign and resilient combat.
