BuildCard details

The Commander

Flying

Whenever you cast a spell, put the cards in your hand on the bottom of your library in any order, then draw that many cards.

Guide

Gameplan

Arjun turns every spell you cast into a hand-refill, so the deck chains cheap spells while building toward a draw-triggered combo or a wheel-fueled card-advantage engine. You aim to deploy mana rocks and payoffs, then loop spells until you draw into Aetherflux Reservoir or burn the table out with damage triggers. The commander is a flying clock himself, but the real win is the card velocity engine.

Strengths

  • Massive built-in card advantage on every cast
  • Synergizes with 'whenever you draw a card' and storm payoffs
  • Acts as both engine and evasive beater

Weaknesses

  • Highly commander-dependent; folds to removal and tax effects
  • Six mana and color-light defensively (no removal/wraths in identity)
  • Can deck yourself with cantrips and small hands
  • Fragile to graveyard/library disruption and stax

Key Cards

  • Aetherflux Reservoir — Each Arjun-triggering spell gains life, enabling the 50-life pay-to-kill finisher.
  • The Locust God — Arjun's constant draws make tokens en masse for an aerial swarm.
  • Niv-Mizzet, Parun — Every draw from Arjun pings a target, turning card flow into direct damage.
  • Psychosis Crawler — Punishes opponents each time you draw, which Arjun does relentlessly.
  • Thassa's Oracle — With a stacked engine you can intentionally empty your library and win on the ETB.
  • Mystic Remora — Cheap repeatable draw that pairs with Arjun's velocity to bury opponents in cards.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana (Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, Dockside Extortionist) and cost reducers (Goblin Electromancer, Baral) to chain more spells per turn. Tighten toward a deterministic combo finish—Niv-Mizzet + Curiosity/Ophidian Eye, or Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal for infinite mana into Aetherflux. Run efficient counterspells and protection (Veil of Summer, Swiftfoot Boots) to keep Arjun online against interaction.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Aetherflux Reservoir life-loss bursts after a spell chain
  • ▸Niv-Mizzet/Curiosity-style infinite draw-and-ping loops
  • ▸Locust God token swarm with flying damage
  • ▸Laboratory Maniac/Thassa's Oracle empty-library win

Archetypes

  • Spellslinger — Every instant/sorcery refreshes your hand, fueling chains and storm counts.
  • Draw-Matters Combo — Arjun's repeated draws power Niv-Mizzet, Psychosis Crawler, and Laboratory Maniac payoffs.
  • Wheel/Card Advantage Control — Combine wheels with Arjun to draw absurd amounts while denying opponents.
  • Tokens — The Locust God and similar draw-payoffs flood the board with bodies.
