Banding (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking.)
: Counter target activated ability from an artifact source unless that ability's controller pays
. (Mana abilities can't be targeted.)
Ayesha Tanaka is a low-power UW commander best built as an artifact-flavored control/midrange deck that taxes opponents' artifact activated abilities while you assemble a stable board. You durdle in the early game with ramp and removal, use her tap ability situationally as a soft-tax against equipment, mana rocks (non-mana abilities), and artifact engines, and grind toward an artifact-or-banding-themed finish. Realistically she's a casual, theme-driven build rather than a tuned threat.
Lean into the artifact subtheme with Urza, cost reducers, and mana rocks so her ability is more relevant while building toward a compact combo finish. Add more interaction (Counterspell, Mana Drain, Cyclonic Rift) and ramp (Smothering Tithe, signets) to support a true control plan, since the commander provides little on her own. If you want consistency, pick one dedicated wincon package rather than relying on banding combat to close games.
