The Commander

Flying, vigilance

Whenever Bruna attacks or blocks, you may attach to it any number of Auras on the battlefield and you may put onto the battlefield attached to it any number of Aura cards that could enchant it from your graveyard and/or hand.

Guide

Gameplan

Bruna is a UW Voltron commander who turns a single attack trigger into a Voltron explosion, snapping every Aura from your hand, graveyard, and battlefield onto her. You play a low-curve enchantress shell, accept that Bruna will be removed often, and rebuild her into a flying, vigilant, hexproof-and-double-strike threat that kills a table in one or two swings. Early turns set up card draw and protection; once Bruna connects she snowballs out of control.

Strengths

  • Free, instant-value aura attachment that fills the board with buffs in a single attack and even recurs Auras from the graveyard
  • Can win out of nowhere, including from an empty board, since Auras come straight from hand and graveyard
  • Vigilance lets her attack and still block, keeping you safe while assembling Voltron
  • White and blue give the best Voltron protection suite: counterspells, fogs, board-wipe immunity, and recursion

Weaknesses

  • Hard reliance on the commander — if Bruna is answered the turn she attaches, you can two-for-many yourself badly
  • Vulnerable to single-target removal, edicts, and bounce that strands your Auras or kills your engine
  • Slow to set up; needs the attack/block trigger to fire, so removal in response leaves Auras in limbo
  • Aura-heavy decks risk being card-light if the table forces you to over-commit

Key Cards

  • Eldrazi Conscription — Annihilator 2 plus +10/+10 trample turns a single Bruna swing into a game-ending blowout.
  • Daybreak Coronet — Cheap aura granting first strike, vigilance, lifelink and +3/+3 that Bruna can attach even though it normally needs another Aura.
  • Flickerform — Protects Bruna and her entire Aura stack from removal by blinking her and re-attaching everything.
  • Steelshaper's Gift — Stand-in for tutors; use white/blue tutors and Open the Armory-style effects to find your best Aura.
  • Open the Armory — Fetches Daybreak Coronet, Eldrazi Conscription, or your protection aura on demand.
  • Hyena Umbra — Totem armor cheaply protects Bruna from destruction-based removal while she carries the rest of your suite.
  • Swiftfoot Boots — Hexproof keeps the whole investment safe from the targeted removal that wrecks Voltron decks.

Upgrade Path

Lean into protection density (Flickerform, totem armor Umbras, Swiftfoot Boots, Lightning Greaves) so Bruna survives the response window, and add tutors like Open the Armory and Three Dreams to assemble your kill Aura consistently. Trim do-nothing Auras for enchantress card draw (Sram, Mesa Enchantress, Sage's Reverie) and run Sun Titan/Replenish to recur Auras after wraths. Top-end power comes from Eldrazi Conscription plus evasion and a fast mana base of Sol Ring, signets, and fetch-fixing to deploy Bruna ahead of the table.

Core Cards

Win Conditions

  • ▸21 commander damage from a flying, double-strike or trample Bruna
  • ▸Eldrazi Conscription or Worldslayer beatdowns that strip a player's board and life total
  • ▸Wide evasive value from Auras like Battle Mastery plus pump, killing multiple players in a turn

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Her trigger stacks unlimited Auras onto one creature for a fast commander-damage kill.
  • Enchantress — Aura-matters payoffs like Sram and Mesa Enchantress turn the deck's Aura density into raw card advantage.
  • Control — UW gives counters, wraths, and protection to stall while you build a single unstoppable threat.
