BuildCard details

The Commander

Vigilance

Whenever Cass or another creature you control dies, if it was enchanted or equipped, return any number of Aura cards that were attached to it from your graveyard to the battlefield attached to target creature, then attach any number of Equipment that were attached to it to that creature.

Guide

Gameplan

Suit up your creatures with Auras and Equipment, then turn deaths into value: when an enchanted/equipped creature dies, Cass redeploys those Auras and Equipment onto another creature for free. You build a single resilient threat (often Cass herself) that keeps coming back stronger, grinding out incremental advantage until you swing for lethal. Sacrifice and blink effects can intentionally trigger the recursion to relocate your gear.

Strengths

  • Turns creature removal into card advantage by recycling Auras and Equipment automatically
  • Vigilance lets Cass attack and still hold down the board
  • Highly resilient Voltron plan—gear survives even when the creature doesn't
  • Synergizes with both Aura and Equipment subthemes, broadening your card pool

Weaknesses

  • Vulnerable to exile-based removal that bypasses the graveyard trigger
  • Cass's ability needs a creature to attach to—board wipes can leave nothing
  • Aura-heavy builds risk catastrophic card disadvantage to a single bounce or wrath
  • Mana-intensive: paying for gear plus recasting threats can stall tempo
  • Commander is the lynchpin; repeated commander tax slows the engine

Key Cards

  • Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist — Freely moves Auras and Equipment each turn, giving proactive control alongside Cass's death-triggered redeployment.
  • Sram, Senior Edificer — Draws a card for every Aura and Equipment you cast, refueling the gear-heavy strategy.
  • Sigarda's Aid — Flashes in Equipment and lets Auras enter attached at instant speed for surprise blocks and dodges.
  • Colossus Hammer — Cheap, massive buff that becomes nearly unkillable value when Cass keeps reattaching it after deaths.
  • Goblin Bombardment — A free sac outlet that lets you trigger Cass on demand to relocate gear and ping for damage.
  • Open the Armory — Tutors either an Aura or Equipment, smoothing out which half of the engine you need.

Upgrade Path

Lean into cheap, high-impact Equipment (Shadowspear, Skullclamp, Embercleave) and protective Auras (Snake Umbra, totem-armor pieces) to maximize value per trigger. Add free sacrifice outlets and flicker effects so you control when Cass's ability fires rather than relying on opponents. Tighten the mana base with Talismans, Boros signets, and Sram/Puresteel Paladin draw engines to avoid the tempo loss inherent to gear-heavy decks.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Connecting with a heavily buffed Voltron creature for commander damage
  • ▸Grinding opponents out through relentless gear recursion and superior board state
  • ▸Sacrifice-payoff damage (Goblin Bombardment, Blasphemous Act-style swings) fueled by recurring creatures

Archetypes

  • Voltron — Cass stacks Auras and Equipment onto one creature and ensures the buffs persist through removal.
  • Aristocrats — Sacrificing your own enchanted/equipped creatures triggers Cass to redeploy gear while you drain value.
  • Blink/Recursion — Death and reanimation effects repeatedly fire Cass's ability to recur Auras for free.
