The Commander

Whenever an Aura or Equipment you control enters, create a 2/2 red Spirit creature token with menace.

At the beginning of your end step, put a +1/+1 counter on each modified creature you control. (Equipment, Auras you control, and counters are modifications.)

Gameplan

Chishiro turns every Aura and Equipment into a 2/2 menace Spirit, then snowballs the whole board with +1/+1 counters each end step. You flood the board with tokens, suit them up cheaply, and either go wide with an army of growing creatures or build a Voltron threat. Most games end by alpha-striking with an over-statted, hard-to-block board.

Strengths

  • Generates immediate token value off cheap Auras and Equipment, building a board even without payoffs
  • Persistent end-step counter growth makes every modified creature snowball quickly
  • Menace tokens are evasive and stack well with anthems and trample
  • Operates well as a low-curve aggro deck that's resilient to single-target removal

Weaknesses

  • Board wipes are devastating since the strategy commits many permanents
  • Heavy reliance on Chishiro being on the battlefield for token generation
  • Aura-heavy builds suffer card disadvantage to spot removal (two-for-ones)
  • Lacks built-in card draw and can run out of gas in grindy games

Key Cards

  • Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist — Freely moves Auras and Equipment each turn, retriggering Chishiro and spreading buffs efficiently.
  • Halvar, God of Battle — Reattaches Equipment for repeated Chishiro triggers and grants double strike to your modified beaters.
  • Sram, Senior Edificer — Draws a card for every Aura and Equipment you cast, solving the deck's card-disadvantage problem.
  • Skullclamp — Triggers Chishiro on entry and turns 2/2 tokens into a relentless card-draw engine.
  • Forsaken Monument — Doubles colorless ramp and gives counters to your colorless tokens, supercharging the board.
  • Colossus Hammer — A one-mana Equipment that makes any creature a 10/10, and with reduced equip costs becomes a one-shot kill.

Upgrade Path

Prioritize the cheapest impactful Equipment and Auras (Bone Saw, Cranial Plating, Ancestral Mask) plus reduced equip-cost enablers like Puresteel Paladin and Sigarda's Aid to chain triggers. Add card engines (Sram, The Reaver Cleaver, Welcoming Vampire) and counter payoffs (Branching Evolution, Hardened Scales, The Ozolith) to make the snowball explosive. Top it off with overrun effects and protection like Heroic Intervention to push past board wipes and close games faster.

  • ▸Skullclamp/Sram card advantage out-grinding opponents into an unstoppable board

  • Counters Matters — The end-step trigger pumps every modified creature, synergizing with proliferate and counter-doublers.
  • Auras / Equipment Matters — Chishiro rewards a high density of cheap attachments with both tokens and free buffs.
