BuildCard details

The Commander

Sneak {1}{U} (You may cast this spell for {1}{U} if you also return an unblocked attacker you control to hand during the declare blockers step. He enters tapped and attacking.)

Whenever Donatello deals combat damage to a player, create a token that's a copy of target artifact you control.

Guide

Gameplan

Donatello is a mono-blue artifact midrange/combo deck that wants to connect in combat to copy your best artifacts repeatedly, snowballing value into either an army of mana rocks/utility pieces or a game-ending loop. You ramp into artifacts early, protect Donatello with evasion and counters, then use his Sneak ability to flicker him onto the battlefield attacking and tapping. Every hit doubles an artifact, so you escalate toward an overwhelming board or a combo finish.

Strengths

  • Repeatable artifact-copy engine generates explosive, snowballing value once Donatello connects
  • Mono-blue gives unmatched access to card draw, counterspells, and bounce protection
  • Sneak ability lets you reuse enter-attacking triggers and dodge sorcery-speed removal
  • Cheap commander (3 MV) that comes down early and is easy to recast

Weaknesses

  • Donatello must deal combat damage, so he needs evasion and is vulnerable to blockers and removal
  • Mono-blue lacks efficient artifact recursion and struggles with broad board wipes
  • Token copies are non-legendary only matters for legendary artifacts (you can't copy legendaries usefully)
  • Without protection the deck stalls if the commander is repeatedly answered

Key Cards

  • Aetherflux Reservoir — Copying it multiplies your life gain per spell and gives a hard 50-life-loss win condition.
  • Sword of Feast and Famine — Grants Donatello evasion and protection while untapping your lands to keep casting.
  • Cyberdrive Awakener — Animates and grants flying to your artifacts, turning copied tokens into a lethal evasive army.
  • Kappa Cannoneer — An evasive, hard-to-kill threat that grows with every artifact you copy.
  • Whispersilk Cloak — Makes Donatello unblockable and shroud, guaranteeing his trigger every combat.
  • Mystic Forge — Copying it accelerates artifact card advantage, and it enables top-of-library combo lines.

Upgrade Path

Add more cheap evasion and protection (Whispersilk Cloak, Aqueous Form, Rogue's Passage) so Donatello connects reliably, and tighten the artifact suite toward combo payoffs like Aetherflux Reservoir plus mana-positive rocks. Improve the mana base with fast rocks (Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, Mana Vault) and untap effects, then lean on counterspells and free interaction (Force of Will, Pact of Negation) to defend your engine in higher-power pods.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Aetherflux Reservoir copies draining each opponent for 50
  • ▸Animating a wide board of copied artifacts with Cyberdrive Awakener for lethal swings
  • ▸Voltron beatdown with Kappa Cannoneer or an equipped, unblockable Donatello
  • ▸Infinite mana/storm loops from duplicated mana rocks feeding a payoff like Reservoir

Archetypes

  • Artifacts (Affinity/Value) — His trigger duplicates your best artifacts, rewarding a heavy artifact density and mana-rock-fueled board.
  • Combo — Copying artifacts like Aetherflux Reservoir, Isochron Scepter, or mana-positive rocks sets up infinite or near-infinite loops.
  • Tempo/Tribal Ninjas — Sneak mirrors ninjutsu, so unblockable enablers and bounce synergize with returning attackers to the hand.
  • Control — Mono-blue counters and card draw let you stall and protect Donatello until his engine takes over.
