The Commander

Flying

If you would scry a number of cards, draw that many cards instead.

Partner (You can have two commanders if both have partner.)

Guide

Gameplan

Eligeth turns every scry trigger into raw card draw, so you load the deck with cheap scry effects and big scry payoffs to bury opponents in card advantage. You stall the early game with counters, bounce, and removal, then convert your scry engines into massive draws to find a finisher or combo. As a Partner commander, Eligeth pairs with another partner to add a second color or a more proactive threat.

Strengths

  • Converts scry triggers into pure card advantage, snowballing fast
  • Mono-blue gives access to the best counterspells, card draw, and tutors
  • Partner lets you splash a second color and double your command-zone value
  • Pairs explosively with mass-scry effects to refill or even mill yourself out for combos

Weaknesses

  • Eligeth alone does nothing without scry sources in play
  • Six mana and fragile to spot removal/board wipes, requiring recast investment
  • Mono-blue (without a partner) lacks efficient creature removal and ramp
  • Drawing too many cards can deck you out without lifegain or recursion safeguards

Key Cards

  • Realmwalker — Repeatable scry-like card flow stacks, but more importantly synergizes with any scry trigger conversion.
  • Glimpse of Tomorrow — Mass scry payoffs become draw payoffs, but Eligeth shines with scry-heavy planeswalkers and triggers.
  • Thassa, Deep-Dwelling — Her end-step scry becomes a free draw every turn and she blinks creatures for value.
  • Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin — Search of Azcanta scries each upkeep, turning into card draw under Eligeth.
  • Pull from Tomorrow — A flexible draw spell, but pairs with scry doublers and refuels your massive engine.
  • Cosima, God of the Voyage — Provides repeatable scry-into-draw value as she returns from the journey.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crystals, signets) so you can recast Eligeth and deploy scry engines early. Choose a partner like Thrasios for a built-in card/combo engine or Tymna for a second color and tempo, and include a deterministic finish such as Thassa's Oracle plus Demonic Consultation/Tainted Pact to capitalize on drawing your whole deck. Tighten the interaction suite with Force of Negation, Mana Drain, and Cyclonic Rift to protect the engine.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Out-card opponents then close with a big flyer or finisher like Consecrated Sphinx fed value
  • ▸Mill-yourself wincon with Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac after drawing your library
  • ▸Aetherflux Reservoir or other draw-fueled storm payoff
  • ▸Beatdown with Eligeth's evasive 4-power flying body plus a partner threat

Archetypes

  • Card Advantage Control — Scry-to-draw conversion plus blue's counters and removal lets you out-resource the table.
  • Combo — Massive draw can assemble combos like Laboratory Maniac wins or Aetherflux loops.
  • Spellslinger — Cheap scry cantrips become full draws, fueling instant/sorcery-matters payoffs.
  • Partner Goodstuff — Pairing Eligeth with another partner adds colors and proactive threats around the draw engine.
