BuildCard details

The Commander

When Fblthp enters, draw a card. If it entered from your library or was cast from your library, draw two cards instead.

When Fblthp becomes the target of a spell, shuffle Fblthp into its owner's library.

Guide

Gameplan

Fblthp is a mono-blue value engine: get it onto the battlefield repeatedly and bank cards, ideally by cheating it in from your library to draw two at a time. You grind out card advantage while leaning on blue's counterspells and tempo, then convert that surplus into a controlling lock or a big finisher. The protection clause (any spell targeting it just shuffles it away) means it dodges spot removal and lets you re-cast it endlessly.

Strengths

  • Repeatable card advantage that snowballs hard in long games
  • Near-immune to targeted removal—opponents must use board wipes or edicts
  • Cheap commander that fits any blue strategy from control to combo
  • Loves blink, self-mill, and library-cast effects for the double-draw bonus

Weaknesses

  • Mono-blue means no removal for resolved permanents beyond bounce/counters
  • Draws cards but doesn't directly close games—needs dedicated win conditions
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate and to non-targeted sweepers/edicts
  • Can durdle and fall behind explosive multiplayer boards

Key Cards

  • Aetherworks Marvel — Casts Fblthp from your library, drawing two, and can chain into bombs.
  • Mystic Sanctuary — Top-decks a spell, but more importantly fuels library-cast synergies and recursion.
  • Brainstorm — Puts Fblthp on top of your library so the next cast or blink draws two.
  • Conjurer's Closet — Repeatable end-of-turn blink for an extra card every turn.
  • Ghostly Flicker — Reuses Fblthp's ETB alongside other value creatures for card engine loops.
  • Cyclonic Rift — The premier mono-blue board reset to convert a card-advantage lead into a win.

Upgrade Path

Add more library-cast and blink enablers (Aetherworks Marvel, Conjurer's Closet, Ghostly Flicker, Eldrazi Displacer) so the double-draw triggers fire reliably, then bolt on a compact win like Thassa's Oracle plus self-mill or an Aetherflux Reservoir storm shell. Tighten the mana with fast rocks (Sol Ring, Mana Crypt, Mana Vault) and premium counterspells (Force of Will, Fierce Guardianship, Mana Drain) to protect your engine. Cut do-nothing card draw for interaction and a clear two-card combo so all those extra cards actually translate into wins.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Cyclonic Rift overload followed by a beater or commander damage
  • ▸Laboratory Maniac / Thassa's Oracle with a self-mill or draw-out package
  • ▸Big mana payoffs like Aetherflux Reservoir or a hardcast bomb via Aetherworks Marvel
  • ▸Locking the table with counters and card advantage, then any single threat

Archetypes

  • Control — Cheap recurring draw fuels a counterspell-heavy deck that out-resources the table.
  • Blink — Flicker effects repeat Fblthp's ETB for relentless card draw.
  • Spellslinger — Endless cards feed cantrips, wheels, and big-mana payoffs.
  • Combo — Card filtering and library-cast loops set up blue infinite or storm finishes.
