The Commander

Haste

Feldon can't block.

Whenever Feldon is dealt damage, exile that many cards from the top of your library. Choose one of them. Until the end of your next turn, you may play that card.

Guide

Gameplan

Feldon turns combat and self-damage into explosive card advantage: every time he takes damage you exile that many cards and get to play one through your next turn. You curve out aggressively, throw Feldon into combat or ping him with your own effects, and snowball impulse-draws into more spells than your mono-red opponents can keep up with, closing with burn, big attackers, or recurring value.

Strengths

  • Repeatable card advantage in mono-red, the color most starved for it
  • Cheap two-mana commander with haste that immediately pressures the table
  • Scales hard with damage amplifiers—double/triple damage doublers turn one hit into a fistful of cards
  • Rewards combat aggression and 'fight'/ping effects you'd run anyway

Weaknesses

  • Can't block, so he's purely offensive and dies easily to removal
  • Impulse-draw is play-it-or-lose-it; flooding past your mana wastes cards
  • Needs Feldon to actually take damage to function, which exposes him to combat tricks and removal
  • Mono-red lacks ramp, recursion, and interaction to fight dedicated combo decks

Key Cards

  • Fiery Emancipation — Triples Feldon's damage taken, exiling massive chunks of your library at once.
  • City on Fire — Another damage tripler that turns a single block into 6+ impulse cards.
  • Furnace of Rath — Doubles damage dealt to Feldon, drastically boosting his trigger.
  • Spitfire Lagac — Cheap ways to ping Feldon for value mid-combat exemplify the self-damage subtheme.
  • Goblin Bombardment — A free outlet to deal exact damage to Feldon and convert it into cards on demand.
  • Vandalblast — Premier mono-red interaction to break artifact-heavy boards while you grind value.

Upgrade Path

Lean into damage doublers (Furnace of Rath, Dictate of the Twins, Fiery Emancipation, City on Fire) so a single hit yields a hand of cards, and add reliable self-ping outlets like Goblin Bombardment and Spitfire Lagac to control exactly how much Feldon takes. Improve mana with fast rocks (Mana Crypt, Jeska's Will, Ruby Medallion) and add cost-reduction/free-spell payoffs so impulse-drawn cards never go to waste; round out with strong mono-red interaction like Vandalblast, Abrade, and Chaos Warp.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Aggressive creature beatdown backed by a refilling hand
  • ▸Direct burn and damage-doubled X-spells to the face
  • ▸Going wide/big with impulse-fueled threats opponents can't answer
  • ▸Recurring engine pieces (e.g. impulse + cost reducers) to bury the table in card advantage

Archetypes

  • Aggro Midrange — His haste and card flow fuel a curve of efficient threats that keep refueling after combat.
  • Spellslinger/Burn — Impulse-drawn cards keep your hand full of burn to point at faces and Feldon alike.
  • Damage Doublers — Stacking effects like Furnace of Rath and Fiery Emancipation multiply his trigger into card-advantage engines.
  • Combat Value — Pinging and fighting effects deliberately damage Feldon to convert combat into draws.
