BuildCard details

The Commander

Flying, deathtouch

Whenever Green Goblin attacks, discard a card. Then draw a card for each card you've discarded this turn.

Guide

Gameplan

Suit up Green Goblin and swing in the air with deathtouch, churning your graveyard while refilling your hand each combat. You leverage the discards as setup for madness, reanimation, and graveyard payoffs, then convert raw card advantage into a grindy aggro-reanimator finish. Stack additional discard outlets and the attack trigger snowballs into multiple cards per turn.

Strengths

  • Built-in repeatable card advantage and graveyard filling every attack
  • Flying + deathtouch makes a 5-mana evasive blocker deterrent and consistent damage source
  • Enables madness, reanimation, and discard-matters payoffs for free
  • Strong in grindy attrition matchups where raw card flow wins

Weaknesses

  • Needs to attack to generate value, so removal/board wipes blunt the engine
  • Color identity lacks easy enchantment/artifact answers
  • Without discard payoffs the loot is purely fair card draw
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate shutting off reanimation synergies
  • Self-discard can pitch bombs randomly without selection support

Key Cards

  • Anje Falkenrath — Free repeatable discard outlet that turns madness cards and the attack trigger into a card-advantage engine.
  • Faithless Looting — Cheap filtering that pairs with the attack discards to set up reanimation targets.
  • Bone Miser — Converts every discard from Green Goblin and other outlets into mana, draw, and tokens.
  • Archfiend of Ifnir — Punishes the table each time you discard, including the free attack discards.
  • Reanimate — Cheats back the fatties you've dumped via Green Goblin's loot triggers.
  • Sword of Fire and Ice — Adds protection, extra damage, and card draw to a deathtouch flier that already wants to connect.

Upgrade Path

Add more free discard outlets (Anje Falkenrath, Tortured Existence, Olivia, Mobilized for War) so each attack can pitch multiple cards and draw a fistful. Lean into the best reanimation suite (Animate Dead, Victimize, Buried Alive) plus discard payoffs (Bone Miser, Containment Construct, Glorious End-style finishers) to convert the engine into wins. Round out with cheap protection equipment and targeted removal so Goblin keeps connecting and the value never stops.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Reanimated fatties closing games out of nowhere
  • ▸Voltron beatdown with an evasive deathtouch threat
  • ▸Out-grinding the table on card advantage then alpha striking
  • ▸Discard punisher payoffs like Archfiend of Ifnir draining all opponents

Archetypes

  • Reanimator — The attack trigger fills the graveyard with bombs you can cheaply bring back.
  • Madness/Discard Matters — Free discards each combat fuel madness costs and discard payoffs.
  • Aristocrats — Discard outlets like Bone Miser and sacrifice loops convert resources into value and damage.
  • Voltron — Flying deathtouch makes Goblin a fine equipment carrier that draws cards on hit.
