Gameplan
Guan Yu is a mono-white voltron commander whose horsemanship makes him effectively unblockable in modern tables, so you suit him up with equipment and auras and chip in lethal commander damage. Early turns develop ramp and protection, mid-game you stick the buffs, and his shuffle-into-library trigger lets you dodge graveyard hate and recast him without ever-growing commander tax.
Strengths
- Horsemanship is functionally unblockable since almost no cards have it, making combat damage reliable.
- The graveyard-shuffle ability dodges exile/reanimation hate and resets nothing—just bring him back cheaper than the tax escalates.
- Mono-white gives access to the best protection, recursion, and enchantress-style card advantage pieces.
