Gameplan

Isperia turns your opponents' aggression into card advantage—every creature that swings at you or your planeswalkers refills your hand. You play a defensive UW control game with pillowfort and fog effects, deploy blockers and removal to survive, then bury opponents in card advantage before closing with an evasive threat or combo.

Strengths

  • Massive card advantage in multiplayer where attacks are constant
  • UW gives premium board wipes, counterspells, and spot removal
  • Flying body that blocks and pressures planeswalkers
  • Pillowfort and group-slug effects synergize with the draw trigger

Weaknesses

  • The trigger depends on opponents choosing to attack you—passive players starve it
  • Six mana and easily removed before you accrue value
  • UW lacks ramp and fast mana relative to other colors
  • Can struggle to actually close games as a control deck

Key Cards

  • Propaganda — Discourages attacks while you still profit from the ones that come, anchoring the pillowfort.
  • Ghostly Prison — Taxes attackers and keeps you alive while Isperia converts swings into cards.
  • Windborn Muse — Another attack tax that turns combat against you into a deterrent and a payoff.
  • Comeuppance — Punishes a big attack into you, often a one-sided blowout while you draw off it.
  • Crawlspace — Limits attackers to two, controlling how much damage you take while keeping draws coming.
  • Smothering Tithe — Pairs card draw from Isperia with mana ramp to fuel a controlling endgame.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and ramp (Sol Ring, Smothering Tithe, Mana Crypt) to deploy Isperia and answers earlier. Lean into a clean win condition—Approach of the Second Sun, Thassa's Oracle with Demonic/Mystical tutor wincons, or Isochron Scepter loops—so card advantage translates into victories. Tighten the removal suite with Swords to Plowshares, Cyclonic Rift, and Teferi's Protection to lock the game while you draw.
