Jadzi, Steward of Fate // Oracle's Gift

BuildCard details

The Commander

Jadzi enters prepared. (While it's prepared, you may cast a copy of its spell. Doing so unprepares it.)

When Jadzi enters, draw two cards, then discard two cards.

Create X 0/0 green and blue Fractal creature tokens, then put X +1/+1 counters on each Fractal you control.

Guide

Gameplan

Use Jadzi's front side as a recurring looter that filters your hand, then flip the engine to Oracle's Gift to dump excess mana into a swarm of pumped Fractal tokens. You play a midrange-to-control blue game—durdle with card filtering and counterspells while ramping toward a big X, then either go wide with counters or hand the Fractals evasion to close the game. The 'prepared' clause effectively gives you two-for-one value every cast, so each appearance of the commander advances both card quality and board presence.

Strengths

  • Built-in card filtering (draw two, discard two) fuels graveyard synergies and digs for answers every time Jadzi enters
  • X-scaling token production means it gets stronger as the game and your mana grow, giving a flexible mana sink
  • Mono-blue access to the best counterspells, card draw, and ramp rocks in the format keeps you protected and flexible
  • The 'prepared' copy mechanic squeezes extra value out of each casting, making it hard to fully answer

Weaknesses

  • Fractals are mediocre bodies without anchor and counter payoffs—a board wipe erases your whole investment
  • Mono-blue lacks efficient removal and recursion, so resolving threats often slip through
  • X-spell plan is mana-hungry and slow against fast combo or aggro decks
  • Looting can mill answers you need if your graveyard package is thin

Key Cards

  • Doubling Season — Doubles both the Fractal tokens and the +1/+1 counters placed on them, instantly turning a modest X into a lethal board.
  • Hardened Scales — Cheaply amplifies every +1/+1 counter Jadzi distributes, making even small X values threatening.
  • Cyclonic Rift — The premier mono-blue blowout that protects your fragile token board and clears the way for a counter-pumped alpha strike.
  • Inexorable Tide — Proliferate on every spell cast snowballs the counters on your Fractals turn after turn.
  • Stonybrook Schoolmaster — Token doublers and anthem effects multiply your go-wide plan, but counter synergy pieces like this convert wide boards into wins.

Upgrade Path

Add token and counter doublers (Doubling Season, Parallel Lives plus Hardened Scales, Branching Evolution) so each Oracle's Gift cast does double duty. Lean into mana acceleration and untap effects (Sol Ring, mana rocks, High Tide, Seedborn Muse-style payoffs) to cast Jadzi repeatedly and pump X higher. Finally, include payoffs that convert a wide board—overrun-style effects, proliferate engines like Inexorable Tide, and protective interaction such as Cyclonic Rift and counterspells—to defend your investment and close fast.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Alpha strike with a wide board of large, counter-pumped Fractals, often after a Cyclonic Rift
  • ▸Doubling Season or Hardened Scales turning a single big X into an overwhelming board
  • ▸Granting evasion (e.g., trample or unblockable) to a single massive Fractal for commander damage
  • ▸Grinding card advantage and counterspells until opponents run out of answers, then closing with tokens

Archetypes

  • +1/+1 Counters — Oracle's Gift natively distributes counters across Fractals, rewarding proliferate and counter-doubling payoffs.
  • Tokens / Go-Wide — Scaling X token generation pairs with anthems and doublers to flood the board.
  • Control — Mono-blue card filtering and counterspells let you hold the game open until you can cast a big Oracle's Gift.
  • Big Mana / X-Spells — Ramp and untap effects turn excess mana into game-ending Fractal armies.
