BuildCard details

The Commander

Flash

At the beginning of your end step, draw seven cards.

Each opponent's maximum hand size is reduced by seven.

Guide

Gameplan

Ramp hard into a 10-mana flash bomb, protect it for one turn, then bury opponents in cards while their hands wither. You convert that massive card advantage into a game-ending combo or an overwhelming pile of counters, bounce, and threats. Mono-blue control that snowballs once Jin sticks.

Strengths

  • Insane raw card advantage—seven cards per end step trivializes any grind
  • Flash lets you deploy on an opponent's end step, dodging sorcery-speed removal windows
  • The hand-size hate strangles opponents who can't dump their cards fast enough
  • Mono-blue gives access to the best counterspells, tutors, and protection in the format

Weaknesses

  • 10 mana is a brutal investment and Jin is removal-magnet the moment he lands
  • Mono-blue lacks efficient creature removal and struggles vs resolved permanents
  • The draw trigger is symmetric pressure on your own library—decking yourself is real
  • Slow to come online; aggressive or fast-combo tables can win before you stabilize
  • No built-in win condition; he only enables, you still need to close

Key Cards

  • High Tide — Doubles your blue mana to power out a 10-drop turns ahead of schedule.
  • Cyclonic Rift — The premier mono-blue blowout to clear blockers or reset a board before you go off.
  • Mystic Sanctuary — Recurs key instants and helps assemble blue mana-doublers for explosive turns.
  • Laboratory Maniac — Turns your enormous draws into a clean alt-win before you deck yourself.
  • Aetherflux Reservoir — Cantrip-heavy draws fuel life gain, then nuke the table for 50 in one click.
  • Swan Song — Cheap, efficient protection to keep Jin alive through the critical turn.

Upgrade Path

Lean into fast mana (Mana Crypt, Sol Ring, Mana Vault) and blue rituals (High Tide, Turnabout) to deploy Jin many turns early, and add a tight combo win like Thassa's Oracle plus Demonic Consultation to convert the draws immediately. Pack more cheap protection (Fierce Guardianship, Mana Drain, Pact of Negation) and consider Dramatic Reversal + Isochron Scepter for infinite mana. Trim clunky high-cost cards so you don't deck yourself before winning.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Laboratory Maniac or Thassa's Oracle empty-library win off the massive draws
  • ▸Aetherflux Reservoir burst from chaining cheap spells
  • ▸Cyclonic Rift overload into a wide finisher or commander beatdown
  • ▸Grinding opponents to hellbent and resourceless, then closing with any threat

Archetypes

  • Control — Counters and bounce stall the game while Jin's card flood out-resources everyone.
  • Combo — Endless cards reliably assemble Laboratory Maniac/Thassa's Oracle or Aetherflux loops.
  • Spellslinger — A cascade of draws fuels a critical mass of cantrips, rituals, and finishers.
  • Stax — Hand-size reduction plus mono-blue lockpieces taxes opponents into hellbent misery.
