The Commander

Whenever Jurin attacks, each creature you control attacking a player gets +1/+0 until end of turn for each creature that player controls.

Guide

Gameplan

Jurin is a mono-red go-wide aggro commander that turns your opponents' own board into your damage multiplier. Flood the board with cheap creatures and tokens, then swing with Jurin and the team—each attacker gets +1/+0 for every creature the defending player controls, so the more they durdle and build their board, the harder your alpha strike hits. You win fast by attacking the most developed opponent and overwhelming them before they stabilize.

Strengths

  • Massive damage scaling against creature-heavy decks (token, aristocrats, go-wide opponents)
  • Haste plus a forced-block clause keeps Jurin pressuring and protects your other attackers
  • Mono-red gives consistent mana, cheap creatures, and excellent token/aggro support
  • Punishes durdling—the bigger an opponent's board, the more lethal your swing becomes

Weaknesses

  • Anemic against low-creature control decks—the buff scales off their board, not yours
  • Mono-red lacks recursion and card advantage, so board wipes hit hard
  • Jurin must be blocked if able, meaning a single big blocker eats your commander
  • No evasion granted on its own; flyers and walls can wall the team
  • Folds to fog effects, single-target removal on Jurin, and Propaganda-style taxes

  • Krenko, Mob Boss — Floods the board with Goblin tokens to maximize the number of buffed attackers.
  • Purphoros, God of the Forge — Adds reach and converts your wide board into direct damage that ignores blockers.
  • Impact Tremors — Turns every token and creature you make into incremental, blocker-proof damage.
  • Goblin Bombardment — A free sac outlet that lets you convert attackers into damage and dodge board wipes.
  • Hellrider — Each attacker deals an extra damage on attack, multiplying your go-wide alpha strikes.
  • Skullclamp — Solves mono-red's card-draw problem by drawing two off cheap or dying tokens.
  • Coat of Arms — Stacks another anthem onto a wide board for explosive lethal turns alongside Jurin's trigger.
  • Fervor — Gives the whole team haste so tokens can attack the turn they arrive.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Ria Ivor, Goblin token doublers) and anthem stackers like Shared Animosity and Mardu Ascendancy to push lethal turns earlier. Improve card advantage with Skullclamp, Outpost Siege, and Reckless Fireweaver-style payoffs so the deck doesn't run dry after a wipe. Finally, lean into resilience with Goblin Bombardment and haste enablers so a single board wipe doesn't end your game, and add evasion like Goblin Rabblemaster plus trample sources to push through chump blockers.
