BuildCard details

The Commander

{2}{U}, {T}: Draw a card. If you have nine or more cards in hand, flip this creature.

{3}{U}{U}, {T}: Target player draws X cards, where X is the number of cards in your hand.

Guide

Gameplan

Use Jushi Apprentice's repeatable card draw to flood your hand toward nine cards, flip into Tomoya the Revealer, then leverage massive hand size as a resource. The deck plays a draw-go control game in mono-blue, accumulating answers and card advantage until you assemble a combo or alpha strike with an overwhelming card lead.

Strengths

  • Repeatable, color-light card advantage stapled to the command zone
  • Mono-blue gives access to the format's best counterspells, bounce, and card draw
  • Tomoya can refill teammates' hands for political leverage or fuel your own draw payoffs
  • Low mana value makes recasting after removal cheap

Weaknesses

  • Slow and grindy with no inherent way to actually win the game
  • Mono-blue lacks removal for resolved permanents and has no lifegain
  • Flipping requires nine cards in hand, which is awkward against discard or hand-size pressure
  • Vulnerable to fast aggro and combo decks that race past its setup

Key Cards

  • Reliquary Tower — Removes the maximum hand size cap so your huge hand from Jushi/Tomoya never gets discarded.
  • Thassa's Oracle — A clean win condition that pairs with self-mill or library exile after you've drawn the deck.
  • Laboratory Maniac — Turns drawing out your library via Tomoya into an immediate win.
  • Rhystic Study — Stacks even more passive card draw on top of the commander's engine.
  • Cyclonic Rift — The premier mono-blue catch-up button to reset the board once you've out-carded everyone.
  • Mystic Remora — Cheap repeatable draw that accelerates you toward the nine-card flip threshold.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Crystals, Mana Vault) and cost reducers so the draw engine comes online turns earlier. Lean into a deterministic combo finish—Laboratory Maniac/Thassa's Oracle with a draw-your-library enabler—rather than grinding value forever, and round out with premium interaction (Force of Will, Fierce Guardianship, Mana Drain) to protect your setup and survive to your payoff.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Draw out your library and win with Thassa's Oracle or Laboratory Maniac
  • ▸Assemble an infinite or value engine off card advantage, then close with a big spell
  • ▸Hard-lock the table with counters and bounce, winning with a finisher creature or mill
  • ▸Cast a massive X-spell or overrun once you've buried opponents in card advantage

Archetypes

  • Control — Mono-blue counters and bounce plus relentless card draw let you answer everything and win late.
  • Spellslinger — A full hand of instants and sorceries feeds wheels and storm-style payoffs.
  • Combo — Card velocity digs to two-card combos and Laboratory Maniac/Thassa's Oracle finishers.
  • Group Hug — Tomoya's targeted draw lets you gift cards to allies for political bargaining.
