Once during each of your turns, you may cast an instant or sorcery spell from your graveyard. If a spell cast this way would be put into your graveyard, exile it instead.
Kess is a Grixis spellslinger that gets double value from instants and sorceries by recasting one from your graveyard each turn. You play a controlling game—removal, counters, and card draw—while building toward a spell-based combo or a value engine that buries opponents in advantage. The goal is to stockpile a graveyard full of powerful spells, then loop or chain them to generate overwhelming card and mana advantage before closing the game.
Add fast mana (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Jeweled Lotus) and the best tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor, Mystical Tutor) to assemble combos faster and more consistently. Tighten the deck around a compact win like Underworld Breach + Lion's Eye Diamond + Brain Freeze, and add free interaction (Force of Will, Force of Negation, Pact of Negation) to protect it. Trim clunky value cards for low-curve cantrips and rituals so every recast with Kess advances the game state.
