BuildCard details

The Commander

Other Plants and Treefolk you control get +2/+0.

At the beginning of each of your postcombat main phases, return target Plant, Treefolk, or land card from your graveyard to your hand.

Guide

Gameplan

Build a Plant/Treefolk tribal go-wide or beatdown deck where Kirri's +2/+0 anthem turns small bodies into real threats, while the postcombat recursion engine grinds out repeatable value by returning Plants, Treefolk, and lands from your graveyard every turn. You ramp hard with Druids and land-fetch, flood the board with creatures and tokens, then attack into overwhelming pumped boards or fling lands/saprolings into a combo finish.

Strengths

  • Built-in card advantage engine that recurs creatures and lands every postcombat main phase, making you very resilient to attrition
  • Anthem effect that meaningfully boosts an entire tribal board for free
  • Nald-green color access to the best ramp, land recursion, and token producers in the format
  • Tribal synergy spans both tokens (saprolings) and big midrange bodies (Treefolk)

Weaknesses

  • Anthem only buffs power (+2/+0), doing nothing for toughness, so the board folds to sweepers and ground stalls
  • Recursion is slow and grindy—does nothing the turn Kirri lands and is easy to outpace by faster combo decks
  • Heavily reliant on Kirri being on the battlefield; she draws removal and the deck loses tempo when she's gone
  • Plant/Treefolk tribe is shallow, forcing some filler creatures that aren't great on their own

Key Cards

  • Doubling Season — Doubles your saproline and Plant token output, immediately overwhelming the board alongside Kirri's anthem.
  • Tendershoot Dryad — Floods the board with Saproline tokens that all get +2/+0 and grow huge under Ascend.
  • Slimefoot, the Stowaway — Repeatable Saproline generator plus a fling-style drain payoff that converts your wide Plant board into damage.
  • Dryad Arbor — A Plant land you can recur with Kirri every turn for value loops, ramp, or sacrifice fodder.
  • Crashing Drawbridge — Gives your recurred and freshly cast Treefolk haste to push immediate damage with the anthem.
  • Splendid Reclamation — With Kirri's land recursion you can refill your hand with lands and then mass-return them for explosive ramp.

Upgrade Path

Lean into token doublers (Doubling Season, Parallel Lives, Anointed Procession) and Saproline engines (Tendershoot Dryad, Slimefoot) so the anthem snowballs faster, and add protection like Heroic Intervention and Boros Charm to shield the board from sweepers since +2/+0 gives no toughness. Tighten the ramp suite with Druids and land-fetch (Cultivate, Three Visits) to deploy Kirri ahead of schedule, and add landfall or land-loop payoffs (Scute Swarm, Splendid Reclamation) to exploit her recursion for explosive turns.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Alpha strike with a wide, pumped board of Plants and Treefolk
  • ▸Sacrifice/fling-based drain from Saproline tokens via Slimefoot or similar payoffs
  • ▸Grinding opponents out with relentless creature and land recursion until they run out of answers

Archetypes

  • Tribal Aggro — Kirri's +2/+0 anthem turns a wide Plant/Treefolk board into a lethal attacking force.
  • Tokens — Saproline and Plant token generators scale enormously with the anthem and any doublers.
  • Lands/Value — Postcombat recursion of land cards fuels landfall payoffs and recurring ramp loops.
  • Aristocrats — Recurring Plant bodies feed sacrifice outlets like Slimefoot for repeatable drain.
