Diversify threats so a single sweeper can't blank you, and add colorless interaction like Karn, the Great Creator, Spine of Ish Sah, and Steel Hellkite. Pushing higher means embracing a stax shell (Lodestone Golem, Winter Orb, Trinisphere) plus fast mana to deploy your unkillable army before opponents stabilize.
