The Commander

Vigilance, menace, lifelink

Whenever Kroxa and Kunoros enters or attacks, you may exile five cards from your graveyard. When you do, return target creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield.

Guide

Gameplan

Fill your graveyard fast, then cheat huge creatures into play by exiling five cards whenever Kroxa and Kunoros enters or attacks. It's a recurring reanimation engine with a 6/6 vigilance-menace-lifelink body that protects your life total while you grind. You win by reanimating big threats repeatedly and beating down, or by chaining ETB/attack value into a combo finish.

Strengths

  • Repeatable reanimation on attack, not a one-shot spell, so it keeps refueling the board
  • Lifelink plus vigilance lets it attack safely and stabilize against aggro
  • Menace makes it hard to chump-block and keeps the trigger online
  • Mardu colors give the best self-mill, discard outlets, and reanimation support in the format

Weaknesses

  • Needs a stocked graveyard, so graveyard hate (Rest in Peace, Bojuka Bog) shuts it off entirely
  • Exiling five cards each trigger drains your bin fast and can deck-thin too aggressively
  • Color-intensive six-drop that's vulnerable to spot removal before the attack trigger resolves
  • No evasion past menace and no protection built in, so it can stall against go-wide or flyers

Key Cards

  • Buried Alive — Tutors three creatures straight to the yard to set up an immediate reanimation target.
  • Entomb — Puts your single best fatty into the graveyard for Kroxa and Kunoros to retrieve.
  • Faithless Looting — Cheap card filtering that pitches bombs and fuels the five-card exile cost.
  • Stitcher's Supplier — Mills you into reanimation fuel on ETB and on death, perfect graveyard enabler.
  • Worldgorger Dragon — A blink-loop payoff that the command zone reanimator can fetch for explosive value or combo lines.
  • Anguished Unmaking — Premium Mardu removal to clear blockers or answer threats so attacks connect.
  • Dockside Extortionist — A high-value reanimation target whose ETB refills mana for explosive turns.

Upgrade Path

Tighten your reanimation suite with the best targets (Razaketh, Archon of Cruelty, Sheoldred) and fast enablers (Entomb, Buried Alive, Reanimate, Animate Dead). Add free interaction and protection (Deflecting Swat, Fierce Guardianship) and a dedicated combo finish like a Worldgorger Dragon loop or an aristocrats package with Blood Artist and a free sac outlet. Improve mana with fast rocks and untapped fixing so you can land the commander and immediately attack into a payoff.
