The Commander

First strike, reach

Whenever Lara Croft attacks, exile up to one target legendary artifact card or legendary land card from a graveyard and put a discovery counter on it. You may play a card from exile with a discovery counter on it this turn.

Raid — At end of combat on your turn, if you attacked this turn, create a Treasure token.

Guide

Gameplan

Lara Croft is an aggressive value engine: attack each turn to mine graveyards for legendary artifacts and lands, recurring opponents' (and your own) best treasures while generating Treasure tokens for ramp. You snowball board presence and artifact mana, then convert the stolen toys plus fast mana into explosive midgame plays or a combo finish.

Strengths

  • Three-mana body with first strike and reach makes her a safe, repeatable attacker that's hard to block profitably.
  • Built-in Treasure ramp via Raid accelerates you ahead of the curve every combat.
  • Graveyard recursion of legendary artifacts/lands acts as repeatable removal/steal against artifact-heavy tables and self-mill engines.
  • Temur colors give access to the best ramp, card draw, and powerful legendary artifacts/equipment to grab.

Weaknesses

  • Most of her value requires combat damage to connect, so removal or chump blockers shut the engine down.
  • The graveyard-mining trigger does nothing if no legendary artifact/land sits in a yard, making it inconsistent early.
  • No built-in evasion beyond reach; gets walled by larger blockers without support.
  • Three colors strain the mana base and she leans on legendaries existing in graveyards, a narrow card type.

Key Cards

  • Sol Ring — Premier legendary artifact ramp you can recur from any graveyard and replay with a discovery counter.
  • The One Ring — A bomb legendary artifact worth stealing back repeatedly for protection and card advantage.
  • Crucible of Worlds — Lets you replay the legendary lands you exile, turning Lara's trigger into permanent land advantage.
  • Dockside Extortionist — Treasures from Raid plus opposing artifacts fuel an explosive mana burst with Lara on the field.
  • Sword of Feast and Famine — Grants evasion and untaps lands so Lara connects and you can cast the cards she digs up.
  • Karn, the Great Creator — Powerful legendary artifact synergy and wishboard access that pairs with all the artifact ramp.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the mana base with fetchlands, Triomes, and signets so the Temur splash is reliable, and add fast mana (Mana Vault, Mana Crypt) plus untappers like Sword of Feast and Famine to maximize Lara's repeated triggers. Lean into high-impact legendary artifacts worth recurring (The One Ring, Urza's Saga, Mishra's Bauble) and protect her with cheap interaction; for higher power, build toward a Treasure/artifact combo finish using Dockside Extortionist and Karn rather than relying solely on combat.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Beat down with a wide, ramped board after using Treasures to deploy threats ahead of curve.
  • ▸Steal and weaponize an opponent's bomb legendary artifact (The One Ring, planeswalkers' support) for grinding advantage.
  • ▸Combo off using Treasure-fueled fast mana plus artifact engines for a big game-ending spell.
  • ▸Voltron Lara with equipment and swing for repeated, evasive damage while value snowballs.

Archetypes

  • Artifacts — She steals and recurs legendary artifacts while flooding the board with Treasure for big artifact payoffs.
  • Aggro-Midrange — First strike and reach plus Raid Treasures push consistent combat damage and explosive follow-ups.
  • Combo — Treasure ramp and recurred fast-mana artifacts assemble mana-based or artifact combos quickly.
  • Lands — Recurring legendary lands with Crucible-style effects builds a value land engine in Temur.
