BuildCard details

The Commander

{X}{R}, {T}, Discard two cards: Latulla deals X damage to any target.

Guide

Gameplan

Latulla is a mono-red Spellshaper repeatable-burn engine: tap her, pay {X}{R}, and pitch two cards to throw X damage at anything. You build a deck that floods your hand and refills it (impulsive draw, wheels, big draw spells) so discarding two cards is cheap fuel, then point Latulla at problem creatures, planeswalkers, or faces to grind out the table.

Strengths

  • Repeatable removal and reach on a stick that scales with mana, ignoring creature toughness and pinging planeswalkers or players
  • Turns 'dead' or excess cards into damage, giving discard and wheel-heavy hands real value
  • Mono-red consistency: easy to cast, easy to recast, and supported by huge ramp like rituals and treasures

Weaknesses

  • Sorcery-speed and summoning-sick the turn she lands, and she only acts once per turn unless untapped
  • Requires two cards in hand every activation, which empties your hand fast without strong refill
  • Vulnerable to spot removal and tax effects since the whole plan funnels through one creature
  • Mono-red lacks card-advantage staples, so a clunky build runs out of fuel quickly

Key Cards

  • Wheel of Fortune — Refills your hand to seven so you always have fuel to discard for Latulla activations.
  • Faithless Looting — Cheap filtering that converts dead cards into the discard fuel Latulla wants.
  • Thousand-Year Elixir — Untaps Latulla and removes summoning sickness, letting her fire twice or immediately.
  • Jeska's Will — Explosive mana and card draw to dump into a massive X burn the turn you draw it.
  • Reforge the Soul — Another wheel, with miracle upside, to reload your hand for repeated activations.
  • Underworld Breach — Lets you recur the cheap spells you've discarded, turning the graveyard into more fuel.

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana (Sol Ring, Mana Vault, Jeska's Will, Mana Geyser) and untappers (Thousand-Year Elixir, Magewright's Stone) to push activations to twice per turn or one lethal shot. Improve card flow with the best wheels (Wheel of Fortune, Windfall, Reforge the Soul) and impulse draw to keep two cards in hand constantly. Protect Latulla with Lightning Greaves and consider Underworld Breach or Past in Flames to recycle your discard fuel into combo-grade mana and damage.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Pointing huge X-value Latulla activations at each opponent's face to burn them out
  • ▸Grinding the board clear with repeated removal, then finishing with aggressive red threats
  • ▸Big mana from rituals/treasures feeding a single lethal X damage shot

Archetypes

  • Spellslinger / Burn — Latulla is a recurring damage source that closes games and clears threats with X burn.
  • Wheels / Discard-matters — She monetizes the constant card churn from wheels and looting into direct damage.
  • Control — Repeatable removal of any creature regardless of toughness lets her police the board all game.
