BuildCard details

The Commander

At the beginning of your end step, create a Treasure token for each creature that died this turn. (It's an artifact with "{T}, Sacrifice this token: Add one mana of any color.")

Guide

Gameplan

Sacrifice and grind creatures all game so Mahadi turns each death into a Treasure at your end step, then convert that explosive ramp into massive payoffs—big X spells, reanimation chains, or extra combat steps. You play a Rakdos aristocrats deck that loops cheap bodies and tokens through sac outlets to generate piles of mana while bleeding the table with drain effects.

Strengths

  • Generates enormous ramp from board wipes and combat, often netting 5-10+ Treasures in a single end step
  • Cheap 3-mana commander that synergizes with the entire aristocrats package (sac outlets, death triggers, recursion)
  • Treasures fix colors and enable cast-from-Treasure synergies, big X spells, and artifact payoffs
  • Punishes opponents' creature decks and benefits from your own removal/board wipes

Weaknesses

  • Triggers only on your end step, so the mana is slow and can't be used the turn deaths happen without extra outlets
  • Highly dependent on a steady supply of expendable creatures—dry boards leave him doing nothing
  • Vulnerable to graveyard hate and artifact removal that wipes your Treasure stockpile
  • No built-in evasion or protection; he can be removed before a payoff turn

Key Cards

  • Mayhem Devil — Pings opponents every time a creature dies or a Treasure is sacrificed, turning Mahadi's engine into a direct win condition.
  • Pitiless Plunderer — Doubles up Treasure generation by making a token on every creature death immediately, accelerating your end-step payoff.
  • Bastion of Remembrance — Each creature death drains the table, converting your sacrifice fodder into inevitable life loss alongside Mahadi's ramp.
  • Goblin Bombardment — A free sacrifice outlet that lets you fling creatures for value and rack up deaths to fuel Mahadi at no mana cost.
  • Dockside Extortionist — Bursts out a wave of Treasures off opponents' artifacts/enchantments and recurs into the loop for absurd mana.
  • Reanimate — Cheap recursion to rebuy bombs or sac fodder, keeping the death engine running and abusing the extra Treasures.

Upgrade Path

Tighten the curve with more free sac outlets (Viscera Seer, Carrion Feeder) and reliable drain payoffs to make every death matter, then add a combo line—Pitiless Plunderer plus a free sac outlet and Mayhem Devil/Blood Artist for infinite loops. Upgrade ramp and recursion with Dockside Extortionist, Pitiless Plunderer, and reanimation spells, and finish with Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate as Treasure-fueled mana sinks. Add fast mana (Sol Ring, ritual effects) and protection for Mahadi to ensure your payoff turn lands.
