Whenever another creature you control dies, you get an experience counter.
At the beginning of your end step, choose target creature card in your graveyard. If that card's mana value is less than or equal to the number of experience counters you have, return it to the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand.
Meren turns your graveyard into a recurring resource engine, sacrificing creatures for value and bringing them back every end step. Early turns you ramp and seed the yard, then snowball experience counters off creature deaths until you're free-reanimating threats each turn. You grind opponents out with value loops, then convert that engine into a combo or overwhelming board.
Tighten the curve toward cheap value creatures and free sac outlets so Meren reliably recurs something every turn. Add dedicated combo lines (Mikaeus + Walking Ballista, Reveillark + Karmic Guide + Viscera Seer) and aristocrat payoffs like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat to convert loops into wins. Improve ramp (Birds of Paradise, Sol Ring, Carpet of Flowers) and protect the engine with graveyard recursion redundancy and minimal grave-hate vulnerability.
