BuildCard details

The Commander

As Mimeoplasm enters, exile up to X creature cards from your graveyard. It enters with three +1/+1 counters on it for each creature card exiled this way.

{2}: Mimeoplasm becomes a copy of target creature card exiled with it, except it's 0/0 and has this ability.

Guide

Gameplan

Fill your graveyard fast, then deploy Mimeoplasm as a giant copy-engine ooze that can become any exiled creature while keeping its counters as base power/toughness. You win by either swinging huge or by morphing into game-ending creatures on demand, often with proliferate or counter synergies pushing it out of reach. Turn to turn you self-mill, ramp, and protect the commander until you can convert your yard into an overwhelming threat.

Strengths

  • Self-recurring, flexible threat that can become a different creature each turn for {2}
  • Counters stay when copying, so it becomes a massive version of small utility creatures
  • Sultai colors give the best ramp, card draw, removal, and recursion in the format
  • Comes down repeatedly with value since exiled creatures fuel future activations
  • Dodges sorcery-speed answers by re-copying after combat or in response to removal

Weaknesses

  • Commander tax plus reliance on a stocked graveyard makes early game clunky
  • Graveyard hate (Rest in Peace, Bojuka Bog) can strip its fuel before it enters
  • It enters as a 0/0 when copying, so exile/bounce can be devastating without protection
  • Wants a critical mass of mill/setup before it's impactful, so it can be slow
  • Single big creature is vulnerable to board wipes and edicts

Key Cards

  • Buried Alive — Tutors three creatures straight to the graveyard to maximize counters and copy targets in one card.
  • Hermit Druid — Dumps your library into the graveyard, fueling huge counter counts and a deep menu of copy options.
  • Doubling Season — Doubles the +1/+1 counters Mimeoplasm enters with, instantly making it a lethal-sized threat.
  • Triskelion — As an exiled copy target it lets the oversized Mimeoplasm ping out the whole table for the win.
  • Mikaeus, the Unhallowed — Combos with Triskelion-style copies and grants protection while making non-human creatures resilient.
  • Eternal Witness — A copyable, recurring value engine that returns your best spells while staying huge from counters.

Upgrade Path

Add fast self-mill and tutors (Entomb, Stitcher's Supplier, Final Parting) so Mimeoplasm enters big and consistently, plus protection like Heroic Intervention and Lightning Greaves. Lean into a deterministic combo finish (Triskelion + Mikaeus, or Phyrexian Devourer/Walking Ballista lines) and counter doublers like Doubling Season and Hardened Scales. Round out with premium Sultai staples—Mana Crypt, dual lands, and efficient interaction—to lower curve and survive to your payoff.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Copy a damage-dealing creature like Triskelion (with Mikaeus) to ping the table dead
  • ▸Attack with an enormous, evasive copy to deal commander damage
  • ▸Become a value engine creature and out-grind opponents into a lethal board
  • ▸Proliferate/doublers make Mimeoplasm too large to block or race

Archetypes

  • Reanimator/Graveyard Value — Mimeoplasm rewards stuffing the yard with creatures and turning them into copy fodder and counters.
  • +1/+1 Counters — Counters persist through copies, so proliferate and doublers turn it into an unkillable beater.
  • Combo — Becoming Triskelion with Mikaeus or huge infect/ping creatures enables deterministic kills.
  • Control/Midrange Value — Sultai removal and card advantage let you grind while threatening a recurring flexible bomb.
