The Commander

When Mu Yanling enters, create a 3/2 colorless Vehicle artifact token with crew 1.

Vehicles you control have flying.

Whenever one or more creatures you control with flying deal combat damage to a player, draw a card.

Gameplan

Mu Yanling builds a fleet of evasive Vehicles and flyers, granting all your Vehicles flying and refilling your hand whenever your flyers connect. You ramp into artifacts, deploy crewed threats, and grind out card advantage off combat damage until you overwhelm the table or pivot to a finisher. The deck plays a tempo-control game in mono-blue, protecting attackers while drawing into more gas.

Strengths

  • Built-in card advantage engine: any flying connection (even a single token) draws cards
  • Free Vehicle token on cast gives an immediate evasive crewed body
  • Mono-blue gives access to the best counterspells, card draw, and protection
  • Vehicles dodge sorcery-speed removal and don't die to board wipes when uncrewed

Weaknesses

  • Mono-blue lacks efficient creature removal and struggles with resolved permanents
  • Heavily commander-dependent; the flying grant and draw trigger leave with her
  • Needs crew creatures, so you can be slowed by targeted creature removal or sweepers
  • Limited interaction with enchantments and artifacts compared to other colors

Upgrade Path

Add fast mana and artifact ramp (Sol Ring, Arcane Signet, Mind Stone) to deploy Vehicles ahead of curve, and load up on cheap crew-1 evasive bodies. Lean into the draw payoffs with Bident of Thassa, Coastal Piracy, and Reconnaissance Mission, then add protection like Swiftfoot Boots, Heroic Intervention's blue analog (e.g., Curator's Ward) and free counters such as Force of Negation to keep your engine online. For a higher ceiling, include a compact win like Thassa's Oracle plus Tainted Pact or a big evasive haymaker to convert your card advantage into a kill.
