The Commander

Myojin of Blooming Dawn enters with an indestructible counter on it if you cast it from your hand.

Remove an indestructible counter from Myojin of Blooming Dawn: Create a 1/1 colorless Spirit creature token for each permanent you control.

Guide

Gameplan

Ramp into your 8-mana Myojin, get a big board of permanents online, then pop its indestructible counter to flood the board with 1/1 Spirit tokens equal to your permanent count. From there you go wide with anthems, mass pumps, or aristocrats payoffs to close the game. The activation is one-shot, so you build toward a single explosive token swing.

Strengths

  • One activation can create 15-30+ tokens if you've built a wide permanent base first
  • Indestructible counter makes it survive most board wipes the turn it lands
  • Mono-white gives access to the best go-wide anthems and token payoffs
  • Tokens count all permanents (lands, artifacts, enchantments), so a slow developed board pays off huge

Weaknesses

  • The ability is a single use unless you reset the indestructible counter — without that it's a one-and-done
  • Mono-white struggles with card draw and ramp at high speed
  • Slow and clunky at 8 mana; easily disrupted if the board gets swept before activation
  • Tokens are vanilla 1/1s with no haste, so you usually need a turn to convert them to damage

Key Cards

  • Sword of the Animist — Mono-white ramp is scarce, and you need to reliably hit 8 mana for the commander.
  • Smothering Tithe — The premier white ramp/value engine to power out an expensive commander and refill.
  • Cathars' Crusade — Generating dozens of tokens at once dumps a mountain of +1/+1 counters on your whole army.
  • Intangible Virtue — A cheap anthem that instantly turns your token swarm into a lethal threat.
  • Skullclamp — Converts a flood of 1/1 tokens into a massive card-draw engine to refuel.
  • Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider — Doubles the indestructible counter so you can activate Myojin twice for double the tokens.
  • Felidar Sovereign — A go-tall lifegain payoff that pairs with white's gain effects for an alternate win.
  • Divine Visitation — Upgrades every Spirit token into a 4/4 flying Angel, turning the trigger into immediate lethal.

Upgrade Path

Add proliferate and counter-doubling effects (Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider; Doubling Season; Karn's Bastion) so you can pop the indestructible counter more than once and even reset Myojin's protection. Prioritize ramp (Smothering Tithe, Sol Ring, mana rocks, Sword of the Animist) to deploy the commander earlier and follow with anthems the same turn. Round out with token doublers and sacrifice payoffs to ensure a single activation immediately threatens lethal across the table.

Core Cards

The most-played cards for this commander, built from aggregated deck data (the Mythic Graph). Build public decks to seed it.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Anthem the token swarm (Intangible Virtue, Cathars' Crusade, Divine Visitation) and swing for lethal
  • ▸Aristocrats drain by sacrificing the army to Blood Artist / Zulaport Cutthroat effects
  • ▸Convoke/overrun finishers like Craterhoof-style white equivalents or Triumph of the Hordes splash payoffs
  • ▸Lifegain-based wins such as Felidar Sovereign or Approach of the Second Sun while protected by the wide board

Archetypes

  • Tokens / Go-Wide — Myojin's ability is one of the largest single token producers in the format, scaling off your permanent count.
  • Aristocrats — A huge expendable Spirit army feeds sacrifice outlets like Blood Artist and Zulaport Cutthroat for drain wins.
  • Stax / Control — White's resource-denial tools protect your slow setup so you can reach the explosive payoff turn.
  • Counter Synergy — Proliferate and counter-doublers let you reuse the indestructible counter for multiple activations.
