BuildCard details

The Commander

First strike

Other Minotaurs you control have first strike.

As long as you have one or fewer cards in hand, Minotaurs you control get +2/+0.

Whenever Neheb deals combat damage to a player, each player discards a card.

Guide

Gameplan

Empty your hand fast, then beat down with a buffed Minotaur tribal army that all has first strike. Neheb's discard trigger and a low hand size punish opponents while you reload off wheels and discard-matters payoffs. You win through aggressive combat damage, often supplemented by recursion of cards from your own discarded graveyard.

Strengths

  • Minotaur tribe gets first strike plus a +2/+0 anthem for trivial setup
  • Cheap, aggressive commander that pressures the board immediately
  • Hellbent (empty hand) synergizes with wheels and madness payoffs
  • Forces symmetric discard that can disrupt combo/control decks

Weaknesses

  • Wants an empty hand, which fights card advantage and refueling
  • Narrow tribal pool means weaker base than generic BR aggro
  • Board wipes and removal devastate the go-wide plan
  • Mono-combat focus struggles against fogs, lifegain, and pillowfort

Key Cards

  • Rageblood Shaman — Trample and a +1/+1 anthem turns first-strike Minotaurs into evasive beaters.
  • Didgeridoo — Cheats Minotaurs into play to flood the board around removal.
  • Anje Falkenrath — Madness and looping discard keeps your hand empty while refilling resources.
  • Bedevil — Clean BR removal for the blockers and key permanents stopping your attacks.
  • Wheel of Misfortune — Refills your hand on demand while dumping everyone else's, fueling discard synergies.

Upgrade Path

Lean harder into either a tight Minotaur package (Boldwyr Intimidator, Kragma Warcaller, Ragemonger) or a Hellbent madness shell (Anje, Burning Inquiry, Lightning Axe) so your empty-hand plan generates value rather than card disadvantage. Add reusable evasion and anthems like Sword of Feast and Famine and Coat of Arms, plus efficient interaction (Terminate, Dismember) to push through blockers. Tutors for Didgeridoo and strong haste enablers raise consistency and speed.

  • ▸Connect with Neheb to grind hands away while reducing opponents to topdecks
  • ▸Suit up Neheb with evasion/trample equipment for commander damage

Archetypes

  • Tribal Aggro — Neheb anthems all Minotaurs with first strike and +2/+0 for a focused beatdown.
  • Hellbent/Discard Matters — His hand-size condition and discard trigger reward emptying your hand and madness cards.
  • Voltron — First strike plus equipment makes Neheb himself a hard-to-block discard engine.
