The Commander

Whenever you cast a spell you don't own, put a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control.

{2}, Sacrifice another creature: Exile target instant or sorcery card from an opponent's graveyard. You may cast it this turn, and mana of any type can be spent to cast that spell. If that spell would be put into a graveyard, exile it instead. Activate only as a sorcery.

Guide

Gameplan

Nita turns your opponents' graveyards into your toolbox: sacrifice a creature to exile and cast an instant or sorcery from any opponent's graveyard, with any mana paying for it. Each spell you don't own pumps your whole board with +1/+1 counters, so you grind incrementally while disrupting your enemies' best spells. You win by snowballing a wide, counter-stacked board and recurring fodder to keep stealing value every turn.

Strengths

  • Color fixing is irrelevant for stolen spells since any mana can pay for them, letting you cast anything from blue/red/green graveyards.
  • Every theft simultaneously buffs your entire board, so token strategies scale fast.
  • Exiling spells from opponents' graveyards is hate against reanimator, flashback, and Snapcaster-style recursion.
  • BW gives access to elite removal, tutors, recursion, and aristocrat payoffs.

Weaknesses

  • The ability is dead if opponents have empty graveyards or only play creatures and permanents.
  • Activating only as a sorcery and costing {2} plus a creature makes it slow and mana-hungry.
  • No built-in evasion or protection for Nita herself; she's a fragile 3-drop target.
  • Reliant on the table giving you good instants/sorceries—low-spell pods blank her.

Key Cards

  • Bloodghast — Recurs from the graveyard for free to fuel repeated sacrifices every turn.
  • Reassembling Skeleton — A reusable sacrifice outlet payment that keeps Nita's theft ability online.
  • Pitiless Plunderer — Turns each sacrificed token into Treasure, paying for Nita's {2} activation and snowballing mana.
  • Cryptolith Rite — Lets your wide, counter-buffed board tap for any mana to fuel repeated activations.
  • Anguished Unmaking — Premium BW interaction to protect Nita and clear blockers or threats.
  • Skullclamp — Converts sacrifice fodder into a relentless stream of cards to keep the engine fed.

Upgrade Path

Add free sacrifice outlets and recursive creatures (Bloodghast, Reassembling Skeleton, Gravecrawler) plus Treasure/mana producers like Pitiless Plunderer and Cryptolith Rite to activate Nita multiple times per turn. Include cheap protection (Swords to Plowshares, Anguished Unmaking, Lightning Greaves) and a token engine with anthem payoffs to convert the counter buffs into a fast clock. Top-end tutors (Demonic Tutor, Vampiric Tutor) and a backup combo like Pitiless Plunderer plus a free sac outlet and Cathars' Crusade push it toward a focused, high-power build.

Win Conditions

  • ▸Overrun the table with a wide, +1/+1-counter-pumped board of creatures.
  • ▸Steal and cast opponents' game-winning sorceries (board wipes, X-spells, extra turns) against them.
  • ▸Aristocrats drain via Blood Artist, Zulaport Cutthroat, and repeated sacrifices.
  • ▸Anthem/counter payoffs like Cathars' Crusade or Ravos turning the swarm lethal.

Archetypes

  • Aristocrats — Her activated ability demands sacrificing creatures, rewarding death triggers and recursive fodder.
  • Tokens / Counters — Casting spells you don't own buffs every creature, so a wide board grows huge fast.
  • Graveyard Theft / Spellslinger — She casts opponents' instants and sorceries, leaning into a steal-their-best-cards plan.
  • Disruption / Hatebears — Exiling spells from opponents' graveyards doubles as targeted graveyard hate and tempo denial.
